Diploma in International Tourism Management
The Diploma in International Tourism Management aims to equip the students with the skills and knowledge in managing the Tourism industry with hospitality skills.
Students will develop an in-depth understanding of both the front-end operations and back-end processes of the tourism business through a combination of classroom learning and On-The-Job Training (OJT).
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
- Explain the different aspects of various industry sectors supporting the tourism market from economics, research, entertainment, lodging, attractions and restaurant to transportation.
- Explain the different aspects of marketing focusing on consumer behavior, prices and customer service
- Explain the different aspects of the convention, meeting and trade show industry and the strategies for planning such events
- Make use of the computer in business using IT skills
- Make use of the basic features and functions of the English language when used in communication, so as to provide quality service
- Make use of the knowledge of hotel type, plan and estimated rate for hotel brands, as well as listing the limitations of the rating systems
- Make use of the fundamental concepts of managing services in the food and beverage operations to improve service management and menu designing management
- Use what they have learnt in the course to accomplish an industrial attachment.

Introduction to Tourism & Hospitality Business
The aim of this module is to equip students with the fundamental understanding of the various industry sectors supporting the tourism market from economics, research, entertainment, attractions, lodging, and restaurants to transportation. Students will also be able to identify the various sectors for their career aspirations.
The aim of this module is to equip students with the fundamental understanding of marketing focusing on the aspects of services with the core marketing mix such as product, price, promotion and place, together with the emphasis on building customer loyalty, managing customers feedback and service recovery.
Convention Sales & Services
This module aims to enable students to analyze key performance indicators in various forms of organizations in the new economy. Develop and apply knowledge of different types of organizations, strengths, weaknesses and organizational effectiveness.
The aim of this module is to equip students with the fundamentals of using Information Technologies in business operations and decision making, understanding the needs of information security management while developing the Information Management System within the organization.
Service Quality and Business Communication
The aim of this module is to equip students with the fundamental understanding of service quality and business communication through the various real-life case studies. Students will appreciate the methodologies taught in class in analyzing case studies and learn the industrial best practices in place.
The aim of this module is to equip students with the fundamental understanding of Tourism Planning from understanding the customer behaviour/needs, to the intermediaries in providing the services for the tourism industry, involvement of the public/private sector in sustaining and grow the tourism industry, considering the impact on environment due to increase in tourism activities, and designing the Tourism Marketing Plan.
The aim of this module is to equip students with the fundamental understanding of Organizational Behaviour pertaining to personality, value, emotion, motivation, group behaviour, leadership, power, conflicts, culture and to manage changes effectively in the organization.
Coleman College recognizes an important aspect in education is about gaining professional skills in a relevant workplace. As such, several of our certificate and diploma courses provide opportunities for students to gain valuable workplace skills from our arrangement for industrial attachments at relevant workplaces where students are placed in organizations within the tourism and hospitality and related establishments for a period of 6 months after completion of their institutional studies. Students are expected to have successfully completed all modules (institutional) before they proceed to the 6-month Industrial Attachment. For this course, the industrial attachment is compulsory and has to be completed successfully before they are awarded the Diploma. In cases where the students are unable to obtain the Training Work Pass from the Ministry of Manpower for the Industrial Attachment, they are required to complete a project work (project paper) to be awarded the Diploma.
Scope of Study
Principles, theories and cases studies related to hospitality business.
The module will consist of lectures, case studies, role play, class exercises, game, tutorials and other appropriate learning methodologies to equip and develop student’s learning.
